Join us for Worship.

Sunday morning services are at 10.00am, where we have a Junior Church. We welcome children to our Church

and hope they will feel part of the Church family. The first Sunday in the month is also Communion, where all who love the Lord are welcome to partake. Once a month we have an Evening Service at 6.30pm.

Tuesday Weekday Morning Service. As part of our Outreach Programme we are starting at 10.15a.m. with a Prayer Meeting then coffee, holding a Informal Worship at 11a.m. for approximately half an hour, on a Tuesday at the quietest end of the Church. Some people find Sunday worship difficult to attend because of the changing nature of Sunday in Society.

Drop in Wednesday mornings 10.00am - 11.30a.m. come and meet us, have a coffee, chat or just read the paper. There is space for private prayer or talking over the Christian Faith.

Friday Evenings. Cornerstone Pilots Company, 6pm -7pm during school term only. Pilots is for all children and young people whether or not they attend church.

Saturday mornings are regular coffee mornings

9.30a.m. - 11.30a.m. Some provided by the Church members, but also many Saturdays are booked by local charities to raise funds for their cause.

As we are a United Church the Constitution states that we will alternate Ministers between the denominations.

Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals.

Baptisms: In our denomination we are willing to baptise small infants. This is the beginning of the process of joining the Church, to be completed later when the child is old enough to make up his or her mind. We expect parents or carers of such children to maintain a meaningful connection with the Church. If you don't feel able to do this, then please resist the pressure from your family to have your child christened and opt for the thanksgiving service below. Because Baptism is about bringing the child into Church, it usually takes place in the church's main meeting for worship, the Sunday morning service.

As an alternative, a Thanksgiving Service lets you thank God for the birth of your child, and formally mark its coming into the world. This is more appropriate if you cannot make the big commitment to bringing the child up in the Church, which baptism requires, or if you prefer your child to be baptised when he/she is old enough to make up his/her mind.

Weddings: The Church is available for weddings. There is no blanket ban on re-marrying divorced people. Please discuss with the Minister as it may depend on past circumstances. You would need to give several months notice so that we can make arrangements. There is a charge for the Minister, Church, Organists fees plus flowers if required.

We are also happy to give a Church blessing to civil marriages. Charges as for weddings.

Funerals:-  you may contact us through the local undertaker but please do not hesitate to get in touch directly.

CORNERSTONE PILOTS COMPANY

WHAT IS PILOTS COMPANY ?

It is a Friday evening activity for boys and girls and the young people.

It is a national organisation catering for 5-17 year olds.

PILOTS is a Christian organisation and has been in existence since 1936. It is sponsored by the United Reform Church and the Congregational Federation but it can exist and be opened in a variety of denominations.

PILOTS is for all children and young people whether or not they attend church.

Pilots do not wear a uniform, they wear a PILOTS badge.

Pilots promise...... " I will learn, pray and serve all I can with the world- wide church of Jesus Christ "

WHAT DO PILOTS DO ?

PILOTS have a nautical flavour. This is because it grew out of an interest in the mission of the church in the South Pacific, and because ships have been associated with the church and its work in the world. A PILOT Company thinks of itself as a ship. Each meeting is called an ' All Aboard.' The Company could have separate sections for the different ages, Deckhands Adventurers, Voyagers and Navigators.

DECKHANDS

Aged 5 - 6 years old.  not currently operational.

ADVENTURERS

Aged 7-11 years old. They will be involved in a programme that encourages them to grow and develop by working for crests in various areas of life.

VOYAGERS

Aged 11-14 years old. not currently operational.

NAVIGATORS

Aged 15-17 years old. not currently operational.

THE PROGRAMME

This is very flexible and adaptable. The core elements are worship, learning and service.

ACTIVITIES

Include worship, games and graded 'tests' to help the PILOTS fulfil the promise and develop skills and talents. A service card is completed every year and Adventurers work toward gaining ' crests' for these. PILOTS are encouraged to participate in the life of the church. The overseas crest is an annual project which helps PILOTS to learn about the world-wide church.
